Foundation of the Department of Law and Justice

The Department of Law and Justice at BUBT was founded on the 30th October, 2003 to cultivate legal scholars and practitioners equipped to address contemporary challenges. Rooted in a commitment to justice and ethical practice, the department has grown into a hub for legal education, emphasizing critical thinking, advocacy, and societal impact since its inception.

Program Offering

The department offers a robust LL.B. (Hons.) program, designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of legal principles and their real-world applications through outcome-based education (OBE). The curriculum spans constitutional law, criminal justice, international law, and human rights, complemented by practical training through moot courts, internships, and legal workshops. The Department also provides a 1-year LL.M. Programme.

Vision

To produce skilled manpower in the field of law for developing leadership and excellence in the modern competitive world through academic potential, innovation, and research.

Missions

Mission 1: To prepare students for qualified leadership and legal professionals in several fields by increasing critical thinking, problem solving, to develop the legal system, etc., and thus transform graduates into competent human resources.

Mission 2: To enhance oral and written communication skills and conduct legal research in diversified aspects so that the graduates can contribute to the legal arena.

Mission 3: To promote counseling skills, a compromising approach for compromising suits, legal disputes, and a practical idea for alternative dispute resolution, organizing and managing power in the legal field.

Mission 4: To spread knowledge among the graduates from multidisciplinary fields of scholarship associated with legal education; make them professionally skilled so that they can maintain professional ethics, and transform them into competent human resources.

Objectives

Our principal objective is to produce highly skilled manpower capable of contributing to the national development as entrepreneurs, academics, professionals, and administrators. The following objectives are within the focus of the overall activities of BUBT:

  • To maintain an excellent academic environment for imparting higher education to learners in different fields.
  • To encourage learners to inculcate ethical, cultural, and social values in their thoughts, actions, and practices and follow them in their personal and national life.
  • To build up a dynamic center of excellence in higher education & research, which will generate knowledge for the creation of an ideal society. 
  • To develop learners’ understanding of the advances in knowledge and complexities of the modern world and utilize these for the solution of problems of contemporary society.

Program Educational Objectives (PEOs)

PEO1 To make law graduates conceptualize so that they can critically analyze and acquire In-depth knowledge of law in theory and practice and thus can establish and ensure justice to the society and the peoples as social engineer, judges or human rights protectors.

PEO2 To relate the affiliation of the knowledge of law with other program with a view to preparing qualified human resources capable to study law on problem solving methods, case study methods, and present them in seminar, discussion, group discussion, mooting, mock trial and law clinic etc.

PEO3 To extend ability of analyzing legal methods and approaches.

PEO4 To produce professionally qualified skillful lawyers and judges.

PEO5 To develop the ethical sense of humanity and learning law for meeting the people‘s demand for access to justice.
